The auction is OPEN!
I am just SO excited. The waiting is over. The auction is open for the most creative, most fun nestboxes I have ever seen.
What’s that? Fun, creative nestboxes? But don’t birds usually prefer muted colours that fit in with their natural habitat rather than choose a home that says ‘look at me, I’m different – and quite possibly a tad risque but awfully covetable ... BUY ME and GIVE NATURE A HOME!’
These amazing nestboxes can make a stylish addition to your home. They're all designer labelled and completely unique.
With London Fashion Week and the BTO’s National Nestbox Week both starting on 14 February, the RSPB and the British Fashion Council decided to join forces to support and celebrate nature.
Eleven top names from the British fashion industry put their stamp on a plain, unloved nestbox, all in the name of giving nature a (more stylish) home. The results are as diverse and amazing as nature! (OK, that might be stretching it, but you get the point).
Bid now
Each designer has transformed their nestbox into an original, one-of-a-kind objet d'art. These unique bird hotels are now up for auction on eBay to raise money for the RSPB's vital work to give nature a home.
To see them and find out how to bid for these masterpieces, visit www.rspb.ork.uk/nestboxauction
See them for yourself
Thanks to the support of The British Fashion Council, you can see these bespoke bird hotels from Friday 14 - Sunday 23 February in The Shop at Somerset House, London. They will be on display during London Fashion Week (14-18 February) and the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend (20-23 February).
All funds raised will go towards the RSPB's conservation work and be spent on projects like restoring wild places, research into species declines and community engagement.
Want to make your own designer nestbox?
You can create your own designer nestbox using whatever materials you wish. Use it to make your home more beautiful. But like the transformed nestboxes in our designer nestbox auction, they are best kept for decoration inside, as paint and glue can be toxic to wildlife.
To find out how to make a real home for wildlife, visit www.rspb.org.uk/homes. Stay up to date with the auction and share your comments or images with us on social media via Twitter #NestboxAuction, #LFW or on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
