We’ve got some great family events in London, Sussex and Kent this Spring! Take a look below for some inspiration for the school holidays…
Get active in nature at RSPB Rainham Marshes, London
Investigate the weird and wonderful creatures that lurk in the watery depths of our ponds with our pond dipping events on selected days between 9-25 April, or hire an explorer bag from reception (£3) at any time during the holidays. Spend the day discovering this fantastic reserve on the edge of London, which is suited to the whole family, with adventure and toddler playgrounds, climbing boulders and bicycle hire – all surrounded by wonderful wildlife. Have a browse in our shop and refuel on food and snacks in our award-winning café.
Pond dipping takes place Tuesday 9-Thursday 11 and Tuesday 23-Thursday 25 April, 10.30 am-12 noon or 1.30-3 pm. For more details please visit www.rspb.org.uk/rainhammarshes or call the reserve on 01708 899851.
Wild families will love our RSPB Pulborough Brooks reserve, West Sussex
Events include our ‘Mousehunt’ where you can become a wildlife detective looking for poo, prints and nibbled nuts to track down some amazing mammals or you can try your hand at pond dipping. For more details on dates, times and costs of events please visit www.rspb.org.uk/pulboroughbrooks. Our springtime wildlife quiz trail activities will also run daily between 6-21 April from 9.30am-5pm. Nature trail entry fees apply (£6 adult, £3 child, free to RSPB members).
Choose to be beside the sea at RSPB Pagham Harbour, West Sussex
Learn about the bugs that live on the reserve before creating your own mini-beasts to take home. Plus, meet some of the weird and wonderful creatures that lurk in the watery depths of our pond (with the help of a net!). Family events will run on Tuesday 9, Thursday 11, Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 April from 10.30-12.30 (£3 per child, £2 RSPB members) and for more details please visit www.rspb.org.uk/paghamharbour or call 01243 641 508.
