I've just watched the third programme of "Simon King's Shetland Diaries" and I want to offer my congratulations and thanks to all who helped make the series.  The final programme showed off Shetland so well and was my favourite.  The shifting light, moody weather and sea, amazing wildlife, all seen through the eyes of a family.  The RSPB nature reserves of Mousa, Sumburgh Head and Fetlar provided the stage for superb scenes and stars of the natural world.  Guillemots, red-necked phalaropes, storm petrels, and orca (killer whales) each giving a memorable performance.  From providing habitat for phalaropes and boardwalks for visitors to monitoring and research, the work done on our reserves is dependent on the generosity of people.  So in a way, supporters of the RSPB have helped towards the series.  Thank you too!

I imagine there will be folk keen to visit Shetland having watched the series.  Or maybe there are folk already in Shetland who would like to find out a bit more about local wildlife.  We have produced a super little booklet called Wild Isles, which gives you details about RSPB reserves and National Nature Reserves, some of the widlife you might see and lots of useful information.  If you send a stamped addressed envelope to RSPB Shetland Office, Sumburgh Head Lighthouse, Virkie, Shetland, ZE3 9JL, or drop us an email at shetland@rspb.org.uk and we can send you a copy.

All the best

Helen
