I have to admit I’m not usually one for New Year’s resolutions. To be honest, it’s mostly because I’m not very good at keeping them. If I was I’d be super fit (we’re talking marathon-running fit), be able to speak another language properly as opposed to just being able to get by and would have done more new and exciting things this year.

However, I’ve finally found a New Year’s resolution I can get on board with - one that benefits wildlife, people and the planet. Here at the RSPB we’re making 2012 the year we push even harder to save tropical forests forever and we want you to step up with us. To find out more about our tropical rainforest programme, check out our fancy new pages.

Over the next twelve days we’ll be giving you some facts and tips for how you can help keep tropical rainforests standing, so here’s the first one!

If you do only one thing for rainforests this year, make sure you always look for the FSC logo on all wood and paper products that you buy. So that covers everything from birthday cards to garden furniture and office paper to hair brushes.
