A last visit to the Ferry before the Beast arrived!

It was a beautiful day yesterday, though the freezing temperature reminded me that the Beast from the East was due to arrive the next day.  It seemed like a good idea to make the most of the glorious conditions:

A persistent first winter herring gull follows its unfortunate parent in the hope of some food!

When herring gulls are together they are very together.

The ringed plover reflected on the dunlins' usefulness as bodyguards ....... or lack of it.

The gulls were quick to take advantage of some peace and quiet - this sandbank is only exposed at low tide!

One of many boats stranded on the mud flats.

Inevitably, a redshank!

The Doris Lizzie, one of many small fishing boats working from here.

I'm pretty sure this is a redshank but please correct me if I'm wrong!

'You want me to turn around so you can see what?'

'What's a tutu?'

'People will still take me seriously after they've seen me like this, won't they?'

Finishing with a cheeky magpie on the village green.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
