A palaver of Egyptian geese at Lackford Lakes!

I don't know what the collective noun is for Egyptian geese but after the events of yesterday I think 'palaver' fits just fine!  Limpy and I were innocently sitting in Paul's Hide at Lackford yesterday when, from out of the blue, the Egyptian geese arrived:

They clearly didn't arrive with the friendliest of intentions!

Just the two of them now!

At this point Limpy thought they were actually waltzing.

Is the third one egging them on?

Ooooh.......is it finally over?

Apparently not!

Finally!

'That got rid of them!'

I must confess that after watching this episode I'll never look on Egyptian geese in quite the same way.  To say the least, the next time the Manton Bay osprey pair at Rutland Water return to find these occupying their nest I'll have more sympathy!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
