One of the reasons I love gulls is that they are so joyful in flight. Today they were disposed to show me just how joyful when I arrived at Felixstowe Ferry on a glorious winter day. It all started quietly enough:
Then someone chucked them some food and it livened up considerably:
I hope you all enjoy seeing these as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lovely set Clare-I agree with you, nothing like watching them patrol the skies with such grace and ease!

Nice shots, Clare, and yes I reckon you are mastering in-flight shots.
They are wonderful fliers and great to watch their effortless mastery of the skies whatever the weather.

Great flight shots Clare, the gulls are so majestic in flight and looked like you had a beautiful day too. The coastal areas are so rewarding with the variety of birds you often see.

They certainly put on a great display for you Clare, lovely to see and the blue sky too.
Lot to learn
Oooh Clare, I am so envious ... you'd have laughed your socks off at me yesterday on the Esplanade waiting for Byron to come out of school ... sooo windy, the Gulls were hanging lazily in the air, such good opportunities but could I get a decent capture?, could I heck!! It was also perishing cold, so not good for me!

Wonderful pics again, Clare. Gulls are great to watch and your flight shots are really good. We now have an interloper Herring Gull who I think is a 2nd year juvenile. It's a real bully and is giving my usual pair a really hard time.
Kind regards
Jenny
