Last season, the webcam went on line 7 March so here is a new thread for the 2018 season getting us ready for first glimpse of the nest and the arrival of its residents – LM12 and LF15 otherwise known to us as Laddie and Lassie.
Laddie arrived last season on the 16th March, the first osprey back to a public nest and also the earliest for an osprey to return to the Lowes in 50 years. Lassie kept him and us waiting a few days arriving 23 March.
Here’s wishing Laddie and Lassie a safe journey home and another successful season.

Karen, thanks for setting up this new thread. Ian
It is always fun when an osprey lands on the nest and we are peering at the screen trying to identify if it is one of our residents birds.
Many know but for anyone new watching, Laddie and Lassie both have distinguished marks that help us recognise them.
Laddie - here is a lovely photo of him last season captured by Mary GK
but we need to wait until he turns around as he has a marking on the back of his head, as well captured in this photo by SunnyKate2, which many think resembles a Spanish dancer
and Lassie has a “y” on her forehead

She looks just like her mother the great Lady herself. Edit: Just thinking we don't actually know for sure do we LOL... She did have so many of Lady's traits though, stayed on the nest for the first few nights etc etc :-)
These two snips I took of Lady at 0543 am on 4th May 2014

Thanks, Karen, for starting the 2018 thread. Fingers crossed for the safe return of the resident pair.
Kind regards, Ann
Thank you Karen, won't be long now, getting excited!

LOL are still having problems with their camera. Access to the nest is required and the loch being frozen has delayed that.
Birdies LG DU update.
Thank you for starting the shiny new thread Karen.
Hoping for a good season here, just need them both to return safely.

Thanks Mike for the cam update. I had looked in this morning and no change and was just about to ask if anyone knew what was happening!
Hopefully a quick thaw and the issues resolved as we are now counting down the days here.
Based on last season, there is only 7 days to go until we can expect Laddie back.
