Yesterday afternoon (according to those on the scene - it was among a lot of detail that we missed due to severe cam problems), the orange-chested male intruder "OC" dropped a fish onto the nest, and after a starving EJ took it away to eat it the carnage began.
In brief!
Anyone looking?
The orange-eyed destroyer. (I have to say, unfairly I know, that he has none of the "gorgeousness" of Odin the Magnificent.)
EJ returned with the tail-end of the fish, which she continued to eat despite the scene that greeted her:
EJ cleared the ground and proceeded to incubate the one egg that appears to be left intact:
The threat to the surviving egg is great:
OC won't have it easy, he may not even prevail in the longer term - the other intruders are still on the case:
To cap it all after a long and harrowing day, it seemed that EJ was disturbed, probably by the pine marten, just before midnight:

Does he have a fish
I thought he might have had one, LMAC, but on frame-by-frame examination I can't see one. I think MOFFER's interpretation is right. How unusual is that? not! LOL.
Heaven knows who that was who froze on our screens :o
EJ flattened herself - or was flattened!
I saw that and like you thought it was an attack rather than the usual approach by OC. Don't tell me we've got a female intruder ! That's all we need.
Birdies LG DU update.
Still harping on about BlueXD, I've just googled "Blue XD osprey", and there are some stunning photos of him fishing at Rothiemurchus. Comparing those images with Scylla's excellent "Monster" pics on p14, I don't think it's beyond the bounds of possibility that the birds are related. Both are dark-feathered with a distinctive black streak running across the eye to the back of the head. I'll shut up now.

We have a whole thread devoted to Blue XD
Oh and philopatry would suggest that there is a very good chance that OC might be related to Blue XD

Read through the thread this morning. Thanks to all who keep us updated. Poor EJ, lost her last egg. What on earth is going to happen now! Like everyone else! I really just sill hang onto a little hope that Odin will be somewhere, safe, recuperating and will return to lovely EJ.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
There are some images of blue xd in the photo section above which I took in Aviemore last year for reference.
Its very rare I post on here, but I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to you all this morning. With regard to something that was mentioned earlier regarding the presence of another female - I was watching EJ yesterday evening, and from what I saw, I would say she was coming under attack, which would suggest it was a female. Just my interpretation of course.
