A massive 4,000 people have so far responded to RSPB Cymru, Wildlife Trusts Wales, WWF Cymru and Woodland Trust campaigns on the future of Welsh farming. To celebrate this wonderful show of support for nature, directors from Wales Environment Link, RSPB Cymru, Wildlife Trusts Wales, WWF Cymru and National Trust Wales met with the Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Lesley Griffiths AM, and Minister for the Environment, Hannah Blythyn AM, on the steps of the Senedd today.
They handed an open letter that summarised the 4000 campaign responses calling for a farming policy that maximises the delivery of public goods like healthy soils, clean air, water and carbon storage. We took with us the fantastically thought-provoking graffiti produced by Cardiff artist Amelia Unity emphasising the decline of farmland wildlife in Wales. The five pieces of commissioned graffiti illustrate the losses of much-loved species including the lapwings, curlews, water voles and shrill carder bees.
