Identification help please?

Can anyone please help identify this little chappie seen in the Lofoten islands, in Arctic Norway? Cheers - Maggie

  • Hi seymouraves, fabshop63, and Bella - thanks for your help. Yes, I was on holiday in the Lofotens - absolutely magic, the only sounds were surf and birdsong, with eight midnight suns on the trot! just got home. Saw the pair of wheatears flitting about the rocks, I may have a pic of her husband, I'll check. Thanks again - Maggie

  • Hi, Maggie.

On seeing this photo my first thought is that this bird is a female Northern Wheatear. This species can be found as far away as Greenland & Canada. All northern Wheatears, including those from Greenland & Canada, winter in Africa. Great photo!
