I'm not sure whether there is a proper vehicle for this, so I'll start it off here and hope that some of the more knowledgeable subscribers can add ther e 2ps worth.
There have been a lot of newbies registering lately and possibly more will do so as the Big Garden watch approaches. After seeing some of the threads lately, especially the "Little Brown Birds" thread, I was wondering whether we need an "Advice for Newbies " sticky.
I would see it as containing a link to the:
Forum Map
seymourraves thread with the "Bird Topography" chart, with an explanation of how it might help - they are newbies after all
the link that Alan(doggoe) keeps posting to help people who are having trouble adding pictures
perhaps a link to the "bad pictures" thread to demonstarte that we don't all take perfect pictures after all, and are not ashamed to show it.
and or a link to any of the threads that show interaction , which would again demonstrate that most of us are only happy to help
any other links that you knowledgeable folk can suggest -eg
I don't think we need a newbies forum, but anything that helps them has got to be good hasn't it?
What does everyone think and, more importantly, how do we go about it if it's deemed to be useful.

doggie If I want to follow you I just click your profile and see what you been saying. This was useful the other day when a poster said that he could not find one of his posts but I found it easily via his profile. These are the little snippets of help which could be exchanged in a help thread.
I tend to avoid all e-mail noticification if I can otherwise one can be rapidly snowed under to use a topical phrase.

Eeek I have stalkers .... Better watch what I say ;-)
A bird in the hand can make an awful mess!
Hi all being a newbie I wanted to get my tuppence worth in! I like the idea of a 'newbie how to' section as it would prove very helpful in orientating all us newbies. That said, I have found everyone on here extremely helpful and always pointing me in the right direction. That to me is one of the great strengths of the community.
