Hello all,
A little story about a Blackbird. Me and my wife (maria) noticed a Blackbird which seemed to attemp to fly but couldn't :( we watched him for a few days thinking that he wouldn't last to long as his flight was compremized, he seemed to go in circles ! We also noticed one of his wings drags on the floor. he feeds well and since the summer hes been out and about under the hedges and shrubs looking healthy. Since the cold weather i hadn't seen him but today hes back ^_^ !!! still with a broken or deformed wing but gets about very well on 2 feet ;) We have a old cat that we thought might of got him but not yet , but we have tried to tell the cat not to go for the birds , lol , just the mice and rats please if you dont mind. The cat has never brought us a bird back , a few alive mice but thats a story for another forum, hope to tell about more sightings nearer the spring time and get some photos to show , untill then...
Neil
If it aint broken, dont fix it !.... all good things come to those who wait !
That's great news Neil! Hopefully with your TLC he'll make it through this tough period!
What a well trained cat you have too! ;-)

A lovely story Neil. Good luck with helping him through the winter.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
I have got an old male blackbird with a hanging wing, I say old as his wing has been hanging for about 3 yrs nearly. He is also very scruffy & bald around his beak, hence I can recognise him. He fights all the other birds off & still keeps going, I call him the Old Captain & he is definitely the Captain of the garden. Don't worry too much, he's probably quite feisty behind your back. He may get to live as long as Old Captain. Makes me wonder how old blackbirds can live for. Apparently robins don't live much longer than a year to 18 months I heard.
Yes, a nice story and I hope it has a happy ending.
My little starling with a broken leg is still going strong.
Cheers, Linda.
