It must be getting cold, the river has started to freeze over! At one point half of the width of the river is frozen, and I was stood watching ice floating downstream catching onto the sides of the river or more ice and slowly building up...It's due to get even colder over the next couple of days too.

I noticed the same with our river this afternoon, but mostly at the edges. The Mallards were having a committee meeting on the fishing platform, probably trying to decide what these floating things were!

They were probably pulling straws on which one wants to end up like a "Ducksicle"!!
On a serious note though - that's a worry isn't it about the rivers freezing, makes it even harder for our wildlife.

Don't think our river will totally freeze over, the fast flowing sections are ice-free its just where it is quiet the ice is building. One of the mergansers was hanging out with the ducks today while his buddy was further downstream, they must have had a falling out or something lol
