Who are your regulars?

I thought it might be interesting for us to list our very regular species visiting our gardens, and say where we live. It might be interesting to compare what birds are where. By regular, I mean daily or almost daily. eg the ones we would expect to see when doing a Big Garden Bird Count.

I live in East Lancashire, and my current regulars are, in no particular order:

Blackbirds; Blue Tits; Coal tits; Collared doves; dunnocks, ferral pigeons; goldfinch (note the singular!!!); Great tits; House sparrows; Jackdaws; Robins; Starlings.

Plus black headed gulls when I put bread on the shed roof.

Cheers, Linda.

  • Good thread Sparrow,

I'm in the West Midlands (built up area).

Magpies, Collared Doves, Wood Pigeons, Starlings, Blackbirds, Robins, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Greenfinches, Chaffinches, Goldfinches, Dunnocks, Sparrows, occasional Wren (every other day unless bad weather). Gulls, Crows and Long Tailed Tits fly over but don't land / stop to feed.

My son is jealous of your Jackdaws Sparrow :-(

Wow Buzzard, what a collection, I'm very jealous of your Goldcrest. What food/feeding method do you use to attract the Long Tailed Tits in your garden?

Sorry I forgot my female Sparrowhawk, but she doesn't come regularly (thank God!), She's very beautiful but I fear I wouldn't have any birds left to feed if she came everyday. We did have a Hobby once too which was fantastic.

  • I could have added a few more, but they don't land in the garden, or haven't been since summer, so that would be cheating!!!!!!!

    Cheers, Linda.

  • My very regulars are: collared doves; blackbirds (one male in particular, I can tell him apart from the others by the white feathers on his head); house sparrows; goldfinches; chaffinches, blue tits; coal tits; greenfinches; robins; and dunnocks. In the winter I am also graced with the presence of an abundance of starlings.

I get many other species visiting occasionally but not regularly enough to make it onto this list!

I live in north-east Cornwall, close to the border with Devon.

    Hi Anna

    Great list there.

Great that you have a Blackbird with a white patch as that is the best way of knowing one personally.

It is good to pick of individual birds on your patch.

  • Hi.

This is a brilliant thread, great to hear what a wonderful variety of regulars people have in their garden.

I live in the part of North Lanarkshire that is close to both Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire.  The area is probably best described as suburban.  Here's a list of regulars (and occasionals) which always make me smile sorry it's not in any particular order:

Starlings, house sparrows, jackdaws, woodpigeons, collared doves, dunnocks, robins, magpies, coal tits, blue tits, great tits, goldfinches (sometimes), GSW (sometimes), chaffinches, blackbirds, greenfinches (sometimes), and siskins (sometimes)

I had a couple of visits from a male sparrowhawk a year or two ago but haven't seem him since.  Also once noticed a goldcrest sometime last year, which was nice.
