Recentley spotted 14 Magpies in a tree in my garden
One for Sorrow Two for joy Three for a girl Four for a boy Five for silver Six for gold Seven for a secret never to be told Eight for a wish Nine for a kiss Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss Eleven for health Twelve for wealth Thirteen beware it's the devil himself.
Does anyone know what 14 means?? There were 2 more out of sight of the camera as well!
Regards
Steve B
I think it means you have a lot of magpies! -- sorry about that but 14 magpies in your garden is a huge amount and I thought I lived in the capital of the magpie world, I hope you get a better answer.
Regards Mike
Pssst! Nudge nudge Wanna see some pictures Here
The only answer I can come up with is 14 is for 2 secrets never to be told.
Sue

I've no idea but showing my age here I remember watching the TV program Magpie - own up, who else does.
OK whilst I'm on the nostalgia tip
Animal Magic with Johnny Morris
Screen Test - long long before the days of video or DVD and cinema was the only way to watch films
And finally the original Grange Hill with Tucker Jennkins who went on to die in Eastenders
The 14th was probably coming to sup with the devil at No 13. Was he carrying a long spoon.

You should be so lucky Andrew! I remember the original Bill and Ben. In fact I remember our first TV set, a 9" Bush, bought so we could watch the Queen's Coronation! I watched Magpie with my daughter.
Cheers, Linda.

I always thought it was 'three for a letter'. Girl makes more sense though... For your 14 I'd do some Magpie maths and go for 2 for joy + 12 for wealth, if that's not being too greedy :)

The problem Linda is that when I say that to my grandchildren, they want to know which Queen''s Coronation.
