Hi To All.
Try your hand at this. The idea is to give some clues that relate to a bird species and the person who succeeds in its identification gives clues to another bird.
Here are the clues for mine.
My name says I'm Great although my bill is shorter than some of my relations. I have three striking wing bars and when I take off I reveal my white tail feathers. I love to be in the nettles and if you see me consider yourself lucky.
Good Luck.

Sorry about the lack of reply for a while, I've been just a tad busy.
Interesting what you say about the Collins guide. Mine doesn't mention the number of the wing bars and shows two and a half (one very short one) in the illustration. Wheras my Mitchell Beazley pocket guide says two and shows two! What is a birdwatcher to believe?
OK, anyway, new bird:
I am named after a goddess
I eat insects
I have not always lived here
I fly like a woodpecker
Guess away!
Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.

Hi Chris,
Not at all but the goddess reference gave it away for me ;)
OK, now I'll have to come up with some clues. I will post something over the weekend...

Hello Everyone,
Can you guess this bird?
I am a small, seed-eating bird and I am a winter visitor to the UK. I am gregarious and am sometimes seen in mixed flocks. I feed on the ground and my favourite food is beechmast.
Have fun guessing and I hope it's not too easy for all you expert birders out there!

Hi Soosin,
Yes you are correct. Well done.
