Mark Avery-We.need to talk about the RSPB-BirdGuides-PDF published on January 2025.

Link below! This article was published early 2024. And on the 1st January was published again to show what he feared  was happening at that time is possibly turning out to be true. Before Martin Harper became the conservation director of the RSPB , Marrk Avery held that position.. Marin Harper left the RSPB to join another organisation. The Director of Conservation after Marter Harper left has never been replaced! Ive commented lots of times how the new RSPB magazine is so very poor. Mark Avery has felt the same as myself. Also other long term members feel the same as mentioned by Mark Avery. There is a lot more he says about the RSPB of which I 100% agree.
Mark Avery- we need to talk about the RSPB - BirdGuides.pdf

Regards,

Ian.

  • I find I am in agreement with MA on a lot of what he says in that article- particularly in regard to avian knowledge

    S :(

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides,  binoculars, scopes, tripods,  etc - put 'Birding Tips'   into the search box

    • I also agree with what Mark Avery has said. I’ve talked to some of the staff and volunteers at Saltholme about the present situation. A few things as well as what Mark Avery as said. He has heard from other members as I’ve mentioned regularly myself on this forum, that’s the standard of the RSPB quarterly magazine is  now of very poor quality  and I used to read that quarterly magazine when that was delivered to my home and now I never even bother reading that magazine. You very rarely hear of new RSPB reserves  now. Also the AGM now online of which I’m in agreement with Mark Avery says about that. I’m donated at times to a number of conservation organisations both big and small. Now I will have to think very carefully whether I donate in the future as far as the RSPB is concerned. There are also many other about the RSPB i could say much more but I’ll leave it at that. But before I finish, a lot  of the staff at the RSPB reserve at Saltholme as well as the volunteers and they feel the same as well at being kept in the dark from those at the top management of the RSPB.

    Regards,

    Ian.
