Disappointing to see herring gulls being described as "brutish bullies" in a report inside today's edition of the Daily Star.

Much more of this, and I shall certainly consider cancelling my subscription to the paper.
I’ve got nothing against Herring Gulls!

I like them, even though one swooped over my shoulder and stole a whole prawn sandwich out of my hand last summer at Eyemouth. I didn't even get one bite. The blatant nature of the robbery had me almost clapping with admiration.
Having watched someone 'teach' black headed gulls to snatch food from his hand, I am firmly of the opinion that such actions in gulls is learned behaviour and its most likely root is one (or more) of 'us' (H.sapiens) teaching them in the first place.

Gutter press, and I'll leave my thoughts there to avoid lawsuits.
They are fascinating and intelligent birds to watch, and trying hard to survive in a human dominated environment.
