The 2023 Total Solar Eclipse(Hybrid) was broadcast live from Australia which was very short of only 1 minute of maximum Totality. The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse at maximum later today will have just more than 4 minutes of maximum totality taken place later today.
There a partial Solar eclipse of only a tiny portion of part of the sun. But not over the whole of the UK. Further south in England there’s will be large areas where nothing will be seen if any parts of thisl partial solar eclipses as the uk is right at the edge of where the partial phase link below of the map of which parts I of the UK will get only a tiny portion of a partial Solar eclipse. Don’t look direct at the sun. And don’t take any photos of the partial eclipses with your camera unless you have a Solar filter on top of your lens otherwise your camera will be permanently damaged!
