My local RSPB GROUP always go up in Northumberland to see and hear Nightjars every year in June where they nest. And we leave very late back home departing well after 11.30pm. To hear the sound of the churning of the Nightjars clearly it’s best if you can put this recording through your TV. Easiest way is using the chromecast adapter. I recorded this sound myself. We always see the Nighjars flying at dusk every year. But the churning sound gives them away that the Nightjars are around. If it’s pouring of rain the Nightjars will not appear.
Regards,
Ian.

Anyone should be able to hear the Churring of the Nightjar(s). It’s best heard though anyones TV. It’s very faint, but if you can play this 38 second videothough your TV you should here the churring ok. We also saw the Nightjars silueted in flight at dusk. I’ve now got the link working.
