This is an article from the first ever British Birds Journal in 1907. I have access to every British Birds Journal up to the first edition in 1907. British Birds Journal allows me to send article in an easy way after for article around 3 years old. If you read this articles you will see that some of these rare birds where being shot and killed. The first real serious conservation laws to protect any sort of wildlife was the Protection of Birds Act in 1954! Later on was another separate law was brought in to protect wildlife in the UK and then with conservation laws and other separate wildlife protection laws where merged together in the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act. britishbirds.co.uk/.../V01_N01_P004-016_A002.pdf
