After months of meeting locals who greeted me with comments like "You should have been here yesterday" and "Got some brill photos" I thought it would be 2024 before I got lucky. So an impromptu visit today to Pulborough Brooks we went with no expectations. I got a lovely photo of a Goldcrest. So pretty and busy in the shrubbery. I said to better half "If I don't see anything else this will have made my day".
Got to the first hide and a few people mumbling away and then great excitement. A White Tailed Eagle taking an Egyptian Goose. Lots of squawking and noise amongst the flocks of geese, wigeon, teal and lapwings (to name a few)f. Finally two (yes two) mature eagles settled in a tall tree, while below on the lake side junior (no white tail feathers obvious) messily fed itself.
For your delight the Goldcrest and one of the eagles hovering above the wetlands.
Seasons Greetings and a Happy 2024.
