Hello this isn't a great photo so I'll apologise , this bird of prey flew over my head and landed in the tree beside me .

The location is around farmland near Flitwick Bedfordshire . I think it has leather bindings around its legs ??

Does anyone know what bird this is ??

Google Lens suggests Harris Hawk, so that plus the leg straps suggest it's escaped from a bird of prey centre... might be worth a look on local social media for any that have escaped

It is indeed a Harris Hawk and the leather straps are called jesses. This shows it is a falconers escapee. It should live perfectly happily in the wild except that the jesses can get snagged on things in trees and fences, so it would be better returned to its owner. They would be glad to get it back.
