Things are a big mess today, the following list is inexhaustive, and it's getting worse at an accelerating rate.
    • Russia invades the Ukraine which impacts the western world's dependence on oil and gas.
    • Huge profits made by the oil and gas companies, some reported at around 900%, at the cost of financially hard pressed people.
    • The release of North Sea oil and gas drilling licences to counteract the dependency on oil and gas from Russia.
    • Poor implementation of renewable energy in a proactive form other than financial and moral.
    • The high costs for converting a home from gas or oil usage to heat pumps, underground or overground
    • Demand for land to build on.
    • The systematic erosion of services to ease practical, economical and environmentally supportive services.
    • No stability in key roles for future policies, environmental or not
    • Fast finance
As we know, there's a lot more to mention and I'm sure, not that I'm encouraging it, each and every one of you who reads this can add plenty more, particularly at local levels to each of you.
Recently I was having a very good chat with someone about the current and deteriorating situation today. After evaluating what he said, I have to agree with his view on today and the  future; "It's all about the money. View everything from a financial perspective, how big conglomerates can make money, and then you will see most of the answers to most if not all of the following:
    • Who
    • What
    • When
    • Where
    • Why
That's the sad reality of today and tomorrow...."

This is not the first time I’ve said this over many years. I’ve been pessimistic right from the beginning when climate change was first mentioned. Even if all the Western European Countries had achieved everything to do with climate change. There are still many many large countries that will never change. If you want to, you can find me saying that many times as well  As well as other pesimistic truths. Sadly, what I said many times looks as it though this might turn out to be true. I’m glad I’m 71 and in my younger days particularly in the 1950’s and 1960’s  I saw Wildlife and the countryside still at its best . But what will  the younger generation have to look forward to!IF ANY FUTURE AT ALL  ON THIS PLANET! Think about that! I foresaw this happening more quickly  and rapidly after the last general election result. And even if the major opposition party wins with a majority! Will that make any difference? At the present moment, the major opposition party seems no different to the present Government. Well that is my gloomy assessment . I now wait for the responces!

    Regards,

    Ian.

Yep nothing political about this post too.
Just showing two people working together a Mr Gove starting a think tank called policy exchange and a certain trustee being a director of said think tank.

And again tis amazing how everything/everyone is connected.

I give you the new net zero minister.

  • Great article from George Monbiot here.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Ian Prest would be most disappointed time to review the RSPB credentials.
  • I don't know who he is.

Ian Prest was a previous CEO of the RSPB many decades ago as mentioned in this blogbut instead of being called the CEO the head of the RSPB in the distant past/decades  Link above. The link below now works with article in 2013 looking back to the1980’s with Ian Prest mentioned in this blog. The same link that I posted didn’t work for some reason. But now retyped and the link below now works. This blog was written by Martin Harper in 2013 looking back. Sadly I don’t think Martin Harpers position has been replaced anyone else since Marin Harper joined another organisation. Around 4 years ago. I can remember Ian Prest as the CEO, but during the 1980’s the head of the RSPB was called Director. Looking further back I can remember the then head of the RSPB Peter Condor. Don’t know if Condor is spelt correctly. There are others on this forum member longer than me who will remember the past CEO’s or back in that era Director.

Same link typed out a second time. Now works! Why the same spelt link didn’t work first time! I don't know! Blog from the 2013 by Martin Harper looking back to that decade!

  • For those that have never heard of Peter Condor, past AcEO/Director of the RSPB and also was awarded either the OBE or CBE for his work in the consevation of birds and wildlife.

    Ian.

  • Peter Conder, along with George Waterston, John Barrett and John Buxton, was the subject of the excellent book 'Birds in a Cage'. It's a really good read.
