Forum very very slow since last night.

Since I returned home after a days birdwatching yesterday, trying to acces this forum has taken me ages to aces every individual page. ITrying to post on here after wring on any subject has taken me more than 10 minutes and it has been the same on other browsers. There have been at times when these community forums have been slow. But changing any page at least for myself it seems to be the worst I’ve know for ages, the slowest for me for over 12 months. It might be my iPad or maybe just me. So I’ll see what it’s like tonight as I’m going out th whole day within the next 30 minutes.

Regards,

Ian.

  • Hi Ian.
It has been exactly the same for me from when I went on mid afternoon yesterday. Every single page taking ages to open and rich formatting even slower. I got BT to check my broadband speed in case it was at my end but that was okay.

Same again this morning opening your post. Don’t know what’s going on but it’s really frustrating.
  • I belong to the Loch Garten Ospreys fora which covers a wide range of nests, all with webcams, including LG. For the LG Osprey forum the slowness started on 9 June. The link took ages to open, and to post any comments. Adding snips/pics took equally as long.
Something similar occurred over ten years ago. Again, in 2018, RSPB changed the system, which, after much moaning and tweeking, was as we know it today..
We haven't had a Moderator since the lovely Mrs T resigned. No one from the LG Visitor Centre posts here these days, so I assume officials are not aware of the problem. It seems to be fine for the main RSPB links, but is restricted to the Community links.
As ItsaRobbo said, I doubt the IT boffins will sort it until next week, sadly.

  • I had the same problem most of the time it took way too long for me to use the site. It was faster with the recent posts page than the wildlife page and chat. But the recent posts page didn’t display correctly. I did make them aware of the first of the month issue on the survey and suggested a better software but to look into the ups and downs and try to tackle some of the downs of it comes with any of possible before doing a new software rather than just provideing improvements without takling any issues that could occur with it being for doing one. I addressed what happend with someones acount on here too who we already know the name of. And also suggested the ability to click more than one photo rather than just one otherwise it takes a long time. I also mentioned about a certain amount of presence on the RSPB community and maybe possibly one of them stepping in for Those posts a member would need the RSPB themselfs for

So I’m not going to say I wouldn’t be responsible if the forum slowed down due to improvements if there ever is any. But not saying that this is why again we don’t really know why it is slow and the most common issue is usually the first of the month
  • Yay, thank you, whoever it was who sorted it.

  • Forgot to mention i was able to comment on a very very few posts but the rest of the day couldn’t really use the community cause it was way too slow and I had other things to do. So I couldn’t make any posts or post any photos on any threads most of the day. But Its finally working now
  • Update, things got faster at 11.30! Grinning
  • Yes, thanks to whoever found out and reset the server, fingers crossed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • I couldnt be bothered for posts i tryed to send as i needed to bed and out all day today.I'm having a break from birdwatching right now as having my bait and my flask with hot water and milk and I've got my teabags with me asl well as my sandwiches!

    Regards,

    Ian.
