2022 YEAR LIST - here we go again:

New year - new blank list:

We started early- team of 4 and did a  traditional Jan 1st route  around the NW corner of Norfolk

8 1/2 hours and a  Chinese takeaway later it was 100 spp , 

The weather and wind direction were against us and some staked out regulars let us down - but it was better than last years !

Best birds were SEO, Tree Sparrow, Great Northern Diver , Black Necked Grebe, Cattle Egret, Bullfinch, Nuthatch, Marsh Tit.

  • We managed to get out for a short walk down the River Skell yesterday afternoon, it's the nearest we get to a bit industrial for us, and managed to Dipper and Kingfisher which we dipped out on for 2 years. We also added Grey Wagtail and Little Egret to the year list now totalling 76 We are going to Northumberland in 3 weeks time with all the family so we should be able to add some sea and shore birds to our list.

  • Finally caught up with Glossy Ibis at Eldernell- also birding buddies I haven't seen since pre-COVID or longer-

    had 3 days around Arundel/ Amberley wild brooks /Pulborough and Shoreham etc.

    Bewicks Swans, Red Kites, Siberian and Common Chiffchaffs, Woodlark, Dartford Warber , Stonechat , Bullfinch, Grey Wagtail, Raven,
    Long tailed duck Purple Sand , Gannet and Razorbill,

  • AN after work trip to (local ) Roydon Common mid afternoon produced fab views of male and female Hen Harriers cruising around into the roost.

  • Yet another late afternoon visit to Frampton and saw my first White Tailed Plover in 33 years!

  • Bit of a struggle but I managed to to reach 100 species today with two pairs of Mandarin ducks on a small local reserve just up the road.. We should have passed the ton mark a little while ago but the very windy weather on our Northumberland week meant we very few sea birds.
