Just because there's way too much great photography on this site...!
You know the feeling. You only got one or a few photos of it and they're not very good, but you can't bear to throw the photos away because they're all you have of that particular species. So you keep them, just until you get better ones :) We've managed to 'upgrade' some of the species below since these bad pics were taken, but not all...
Please join in! I can't be the only one who hordes terrible wildlife photos :)

Took this out of our rear office window. I'm sure it's a kestrel. Couldn't zoom in anymore as I only had my S3 to hand!
My first ever photo of a Goldcrest. I'm so proud of it I may actually have it framed !!

Hello Paul,
there is one thing you could do to get a better picture of your Goldcrest: Goldcrest and Firecrest can both easily be attracted when you use a Bird-Voice-CD and a CD-Player (or your Smartphone). They tend to linger very close nearby and sing loudly. My father did this last year in our garden. He waited with his camera, and I had to take care of the CD. I had to play the birdsong a few times and then press the "Pause"-Button. The Firecrest came down from the tree-top and sang very loud. Now and then it came flying towards us. It passed us right between me and my mother, who sat not more than two feet away from me. I was always afraid it might bump into us. Poor little thing! It was so excited because of his "rival", but my father managed to get a few good shots.

I've just caught up with this thread again... Paul, your Goldcrest is just like the ones I keep seeing before I put my specs on... well done for keeping the standards down (some of the photos posted here are getting dangerously close to being good!)
Best Wishes, Rosy
Who would have believed that such a graceful bird could be made to look so clumsy and ungainly? Nice one Alan!
