Just because there's way too much great photography on this site...!
You know the feeling. You only got one or a few photos of it and they're not very good, but you can't bear to throw the photos away because they're all you have of that particular species. So you keep them, just until you get better ones :) We've managed to 'upgrade' some of the species below since these bad pics were taken, but not all...
Please join in! I can't be the only one who hordes terrible wildlife photos :)
Collared Flycatcher
Otter
Peregrine
and best (worst) of all, Nightjar!

LOL well I was told by our old friend Borderslass that it was a dabchick, which apparently translates to proper English as Little Grebe! LOL.
Cheers, Linda.

Found this gem while looking through the pics from Knole Park that I took last week. What is it? No idea. Why did I think that a distant shot of it flying away into bad light would make a worthwhile photo? Your guess is as good as mine.

It is, isn't it? <beams proudly> :D
I was actually slightly relieved when this one didn't turn out.
It was a Gull carrying off a Kittiwake chick that it had stolen from the nest.

Another Tawny owl Friday night. About 150 feet away. I could only just make him out in the moonlight. Focus slightly off for the first shot. Terrible reflection from his eyes for the second. I decided to risk moving closer but he was having none of that and flew off into the night.
Love that last shot Galatas, so spooky with those shining eyes !!

If this thread demonstrates anything at all it's that having a good camera doesn't automatically guarantee that every photo will be good. Even a modest point and shoot can produce great pictures under the right conditions. In fact the more complicated the camera the more chances you have for messing things up.
And with all this push-button technology one can make more mistakes even faster lol !! Specially when one hasn't a clue what half of them mean (must read the manual!!!)

How strange................I went from this thread to download this afternoon's pics and found this.................
The very rare lesser-spotted twin-beaked blackbird - wouldn't you all like one ????????
Ha Ha doggie - they are both into eating whole peanuts - have to swallow them in relays though !!!
