Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Hi-
for a high quality scope that will last for years - I recommend the Kowa TSN 661 with either a zoom or ( I have the ) 30x wide angle. Pricey but fabulous.

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
That is one of the ones we have been looking at for upgrading Chris's old scope very attractive at the price,no final choices yet.
Found it here £29.50 Including delivery

Thanks everyone for your help, still undecided as to the Ag60 or Ag80
I will go to Minsmere next week and try them out.
I now have my tripod and Hide clamp all I need now is the scope,I hope to look at them on Saturday and have narrowed it down to the Ag60 or 80,I believe they have Demonstrations on Saturday .
Finally went for the RSPB Harrier80.
The staff at Minsmere were very helpful, even took the scopes outside to compare.Happy.
Hope you have fun with your new scope,it will open up a new world for you. We would be interested in how you find it in the field as Chris is wanting to upgrade her present scope.
Been out once with it so far,I found the zoom range incredible.I zoomed in on a branch of a tree that was almost impossible to see by eye.obvs you lose a certain amount of light when zoomed right in.
Just ordered a mulepack from cleyspy to carry it about.
Scope carriers like the Mulepack are great if you want to carry your scope and tripod far.Just a word of warning if you are out in strong winds take care as the carrier acts like a sail and could blow the tripod over. We had a couple of scares like that luckily no damage done. Enjoy your new set up.
