Hi
Titchwell has the Harrier scope 80mm - I gave it a go today- It's not bad but frankly the smaller ( AG 60?) Scope with a zoom lens was far more impressive- and all the staff who had tried it agreed- price was about £359 I think.

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
I did look at the 60 however the 80 had the advantage of the extra zoom on the eyepiece.I am totally new to this and will do a bit more research and looking through scopes,I appreciate the advice.
forgot to mention that i would like to use it for Boat watching on the Solent too.
Hi- the (ZOOM) EYEPIECES are interchangeable - choose which you want on your particular scope
They'll be fine for boat watching
Hi- remember
THE SCOPE IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE TRIPOD ITS SITTING ON!
Don't take the 'free' tripod - get a decent one-
See my previous posts on here
And don't forget to allow for a tripod in your budget, usually around £100 or more for something half decent. As S says the freebie is often not up to much

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Any suggestions on Tripods?I think i would most prob want one where the middle section can be used in a hide clamp.
The Velbon sherpa 200 is a good starting point about £89 very popular at the price.
And even cheaper on Amazon, had a look as I am in the market for a better one, thanks S!

We have two of them one quite ancient and still going strong. They are very useful in hides with an Opticron hide clamp fitted on the centre column.
Thanks Everyone for the Advice.
I have just ordered a Velbon 200R with Panhead from Amazon £64:00
