I'm starting a new thread as the old one is playing up. Here's a snap of the sea from Felixstowe Ferry to start it off:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lovely photo Paul, especially when I can view it full screen whilst sitting in the central heating lol it does look brrrrghhh !

Thanks, Hazel. Taken with the 135mm f/2 in-between horizontal hail stones and snow flurries. It's really growing on me now after initially not being so sure about it. :-)

post edit: it took me around 0.2 of a second to love the 300mm f/2 LOL
Oohooh!! shivers... The weather sounds terrible. But as I have said many times, I've never had a bad day at the ocean. A bad day just makes the ocean/sea more memorable. Love your picture and wish I could be there.
Thanks, June. Put on your gloves and hat and streetwalk on Google Earth to 'Barns Ness Lighthouse'. Scroll left to the larger beach and you'll see the area where the photo was taken. :-)
I love streetwalking. In fact I think I invented the term - not the process of course, but the word. They made fun of it, all in good humour, but I stuck by it anyway. So Paul, I will follow your directions and see what I can find..
So - we are east of Edinburgh. On streetwalk I could not scroll left of the lighthouse or even get to the lighthouse. But I did get these images, which were taken September, 2011. Here we can see the lighthouse in the distance on a hillside toward the right.
These two were as close as I could get and were taken from the same spot, just different angles.
Spot the birdie. :-)
I see a Cormorant ! Lovely seascape photo
