Hazel, Forgot to ask, will you use the photo with the owl on your head for your next passport photo?--LOL?!
Kind regards, Ann
Hi Hazy, I've not been on the forums too much recently, but I just thought that I'd drop in to say that it's nice to see you back here. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you again.
Paul
My bird photos HERE
Hi, Paul! It's nice to see you.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Thanks Clare, I've been a bit pre-occupied with other stuff lately, but hopefully I'll get back to posting more stuff soon.
lol Ann, I did think about using the owl as a new type of fascinator !
@ Paul, great to see you too and look forward to your posts :)
C'mon, Hazy, when are we going to see the first photo from your super duper new camera? Are you still chasing a Robin round the garden especially for MC?

lol TJ, I went out today with my 70-300mm attached but it was a day of testing different settings and I got a right hotchpotch lol I'm just going through them now but most are already in the bin and all the originals are deleted as I never want to see them again !! I did get a robin with first shot but it was silhouetted being around 7.30 am and very grey sky to begin with - think the ISO was too high as I let camera choose the settings to begin with so into the trash it goes - don't worry MC, I will send you a copy so you can see how "noisy" it is !!! Did better with the close up shots but I really need to sit the camera on a monopod for those - by the time I held the camera for 5 hours I got a bit tired lol ! Today I just wanted to see how the camera felt with my 70-300mm lens attached and to be honest it felt great ........just wish results were better but I'm trying to run before I can walk ! A lot more study of settings is needed, especially exposure but I'll keep practicing as I'm a dog with a bone now !! All this today when I only managed two hours of sleep last night :( too much on my mind with new computer and camera - brain wouldn't go into sleep mode lol
Here's a few hotchpotch shots but don't expect high standards until I get the hang of things lol ..... ( these are low quality jpeg )
I really need more time to sit down, study the critical settings and try again lol ...... after a better nights sleep.
Wow Hazy, I know I'm no expert(don't know what you mean by low quality jpeg doh,) but those photos are really vivid and sharp, love the dandelion, so keep posting you are doing brilliantly.
Lot to learn
Evening Gaynor, you're too kind ! there were more disappointing shots than promising ones but I guess that's what we learn from too. The jpegs for uploading on here were small size, hence I thought they would be poorer to view on here; another one of the things I have to tweak in the editing software for transferring files lol I do think, if I can master some of the important settings on the camera I can get some nice shots as I have noticed significant sharpness all round and like the DOF it gives. I think my brain has been on overload with trying to get to grips with the change in computer system from Windows 7 to iMac and thats been challenging in its own right lol no wonder I can't sleep !! thanks again for your encouragement, I will start with renewed vigour tomorrow :)
Oh, fiddle ... just wrote a post & it disappeared, don't they know I have no patience? Lol
I was commenting that you are a brave soul to take on all this techie stuff & still remain so cheerful & optimistic ... not for me (especially at present) as I do appreciate the easy life! Suppose that's what happens when a body gets ancient!!!
That said, I do think your pics are good & especially like the banded snails, so bright & colourful compared with the 'run-of-the-mill' variety!
Looking forward to a Robin as much as MC!!
