LOL Fruit Bat,
Thank you for that link. I looked at the website and it is an organisation based in India.
One thing it says is that on 20th March (this Saturday) we should all toast the house sparrow. What a splendid idea ... another excuse for a glass of red! So at 7pm on Saturday, join me in a toast to our little treasure pots.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow
At least it is WORLD Sparrow Day, so the UK counts too.
I will get my glass of Red Wine as said on Saturday and join you for a drink
I may be going out for a spot of bird watching on Saturday {if not ... Sunday}so we will see
Your little treasure pots will be well celebrated.
and another one to join the party!
Oh Simon, I can't see your pic. Can you re-load it?
I can see Simon's and your pictures at the moment
Have another peak at Simon's picture
Love all your pictures of the Spuggies - little 'cheeky chops' as I like to call them {pet name}
A birding friend pointed out a little something to me that I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
4 of the images used are Tree Sparrows
Have to say I didn't notice until he pointed it out!
:o)
Hi Paul,
I didn't notice either, but I only really looked at the link page.
I can see your pic now Simon. Beautiful.
Hi Sparrow,
I didn't notice actually, until it was mentioned. I was too busy reading :o)
I too can see your photo now Simon. Beautiful :o)
Hi Paul
Well spotted to your friend Paul. Yes, it is true that the 4 pictures are of Tree sparrows as they have distinctive white cheeks, and chestnut coloured areas on their face area, and on top of head
Wonder if that was a mistake with the pictures, on the link or it was done on purpose.
mind you sometimes birds that look like the ones we have in the UK are called something different abroad.
I think the Title should be changed to
'World Sparrow Day' instead.
