It's raining ... It's pouring....the Jays look adoring !

There were not words to describe the weather today except for ****  !!!      However, after attempting sit under the sun umbrella to shelter from the driving rain  I gave up the challenge, as within minutes I was soaking wet .........so I retreated back indoors and not to be put off, I took these through the window .........ok, not as good as being outside with the camera but I did have to laugh at the two Jays who still took several baths in the pond/waterfall area despite the continual rain showers ......

spot the the two Jays  .......

I know how you feel Jake   !

    Love

  • Friday is good! It has been awful but I went to a garden centre in Wakefield and its brilliant there! I've been before and its massive and sells everything, lots of bird stuff too!!

Its very drab and even now its dark and misty, its like October! Looks like Halloween!

    Cheers, Jason

  • Great jay photos, Hazy: they must like to be clean. I've had to keep an eye on the feeders emptying because it's been so cold and wet.

But the trees are getting those fresh green leaves so when the sun comes out, it'll be glorious.

  • Thanks GM,  yes, I am keeping an eye on the feeders too as the birds seem to want more food the colder it gets and with the rain and damp I like to replenish the seed so it doesn't get to soggy.    As you say, the leaves are looking lovely and green and when the sun shines it is just gorgeous,  no place like UK for gardens :)

  • I'd love one as big as yours, Hazy! But even in my tiny garden, I still manage to keep a lot of birds fed and I'm not sure I could manage such a large garden on my own. I guess we all do what we can.

  • Morning GM and Lolly, and thank you

@ GM   no matter how big or small a garden they can be wonderful places to attract the birds and wildlife,  this garden having a lot of Oaks and some Beech trees in it and plenty of shrubs means we have no real formal borders to weed or maintain, just the rockery area around the pond and a lot of leaves to collect come Autumn  LOL      Although I do pot up 7 hanging baskets/troughs each year with summer bedding and have some wild flowers spread throughout the shrubs to attract butterflies and two small beds by the front gate which I plant up spring and autumn.    Fortunately, Mike likes gardening too so it helps to have two pairs of hands to do the work and I have a ride-on mower (as well as petrol push mower) to keep the grass cut .......you should see me doing wheelies around the Oak trees   !!!

@ Lolly,  the Jays do look strange when they dunk their head and body into the water .... always providing good entertainment.     Just wish the weather was a bit warmer so I could sit outside and enjoy the labours of our gardening and feeding stations but it's quite strong winds here and despite some sunshine, is set for more showers, much like the rest of the country :(      6 squirrels have decided to play havoc with the feeders so I've got to go scare the living daylights out of them .........again !!     who needs keep fit class when you have a garden full of grey squirrels   LOL
