Hi- this may be in the wrong place- it was meant to follow the Artboard thread- oops!
this sketch was submitted to British Birds if memory serves. done with BIC Biro in a hide at Minsmere before I owned a telescope.
It's not brilliant but it does the job

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
Not bad S, not bad at all. Like you say it does the job. That's the thing with field sketches, you often have limited time (birds fly off!!!) and its vital to get as much detail as possible, so you can ID at your leisure.
Seymour, looks a bit like my field note book, even today my art work has not got any better but as you say it usually does the job if submitting records.A digi camera may give better results but nowhere near as personal.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Hi-
I decided to get out a watercolour box and have a go at a bird- it can't be that difficult if you have O level art can it?
I've said this already but I'll say it again "there are some very talented members on here " !!!! love the drawing and the watercolour, just beautiful.

Hi- dug this out
Great stuff, Seymour; lovely detail. Sadly, I have no aptitude for detailed sketches or watercolours so must rely on modern digital photos to help me.
