Well whatever you are doing, it is most certainly showing in your work, a beautiful painting S, well done.

Here's a yellowhammer - had to chill out after a medical procedure today
Blimey. I hope it went well.
Beautiful yellowhammer, by the way!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Very nice painting S.

Lovely artwork S, I think you have convinced me dust off my set of watercolours to do some line and wash later on in the day.
I have just been upstairs and looked in a drawer my late wife used and there are lots of drawing, painting and other stuff that don’t look like they have been out of the box’s.
So I might give this water colouring a go seeing I have everything, what I would like to know is what size of paper are you using S, I have a paper cutter so that’s no problem and I would be doing them in portrait like you have.
Cheers
And it looks like you are doing wet on dry would this be best to start off with?
Hi-
the bird is about 15cms long on the painting; the paper is Fabriano artistico 14x11 inches.
I work wet to dry.
see my Kiskadee post for more details
this is an experiment - I have had it in a corner for over a year- it's watercolour on Arches paper;
1st conclusion from experiment- DON'T USE ARCHES! It doesn't dry quickly and the surface can go mushy especially if you add a bit of gouache Titanium white - I'll stick with Fabriano in future;
