Hello Folks! Fungi come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours. Whilst some are edible, others are poisonous and best avoided. They can be found almost everywhere and are often easily overlooked. Many can be seen in woodland and meadow, especially at this time of year. Each Monday for 12 weeks I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify the UK fungus. On Wednesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. On Friday I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest.MYSTERY FUNGI QUIZ #1Purrfect pink head attire.
I've got one suggestion but I'm thrown a bit by your clue, Witches Hat Mushroom its also pink but purrfect? Unless you mean a witches cat? Then again theres always my usual "wrong".

A good start folks!
I'm even more ignorant about fungi than I am about almost everything else. So I've no option but to cheat although I doubt that it will do me any good.
I came across this site which looks like it might be quite useful

Looking down the list I came across Panthercap which sort of fits the "purrfect" and "head attire" reference but I don't think it's pink. So, although I cheated I have no shame because I don't think it's correct.

Whoo Hoo, welcome back Mrs T, hope you are fighting fit. At the moment I am thinking Cheshire Cat and Alice in Wonderland - so I will think on while I wade through water and torrential rain....and be back later - Don't think Cat's Ear Mushrooms grow in Britain.

Interesting site, TeeJay. I like some of the names, Livid Pinkgill's my favourite, but I've no idea what the answer is.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
