Hello Folks! Flowers not only decorate our meadows, our woodlands, our roadsides with splashes of colour, but they also provide food and shelter for a whole host of insects. We have only to look at UK flowers to appreciate their beauty, their scent, their diversity. Each Monday for 12 weeks I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify the UK flower. On Wednesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. On Friday I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest.Keep a note of each species, as I will be asking which is the odd one out at the end of the quiz.MYSTERY FLOWER QUIZ#10It's all about frozen food and spreadable cheese.
MrsT,that was the only word I dare print.lol
Clue: You may get an aerial view from atop of my lofty stems.
@Sooty - what are you like!
Well a bird's eye view is an aerial view so I think Seaman's answer is still on track.

All will be revealed tomorrow :)
Congratulations to all of you who guessed Bird's-eye primrose (Primula farinosa). First a bit about the clues: ‘It's all about frozen food and spreadable cheese.’ Frozen food refers to the 'Bird’s eye' frozen food range. Spreadable cheese refers to 'Primula', the first part of the latin name for this plant and a brand of soft spreadable cheese. The second clue: ‘You may get an aerial view from atop of my lofty stems.’ refers to the fact that this plant can grow up to 6 inches tall in certain terrains and that a ‘Bird’s eye’ view is often seen from quite high up!
A member of the Primulaceae family, Bird's-eye primroses are perennials whose clustered lilac-pink flowers bloom throughout May and July. Found in damp limestone meadows, they are mainly found in parts of Lancashire and Yorkshire. The Bird’s eye part of this plant’s name refers to the ‘yellow eye’ which appears in the centre of its flower.
A picture of a Bird's-eye primrose can be found here.
Did you know?: The Bird’s eye primrose is an endangered species in Finland.
Keep an eye out for next week’s mystery flower.
Take care,
Claire

Well done Seaman. You were on to that one very quickly.
