Hello Folks,Here's something for all you fans of our feathered friends. Each friday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify this bird. The following Monday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. The day after I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest. Here goes ....MYSTERY BIRD #12You won't turn your back on my stellar plumage, so late in the evening.
All I could think of was that Paramo make a range of outdoor clothing - relevant to birders, but not this quiz!

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Congratulations to all of you who guessed Dusky starfrontlet (Coeligena orina). These delicate hummingbirds have an incredibly restricted range and are only known in two tiny forest fragments at Páramo Frontino and Farallones del Citará in north-west Colombia. The global population is thought to be less than 250 individuals.
Preferring tall forest habitats, it is thought that Dusky starfrontlets eat parasitic wasps and spiders and may even partake of nectar. Though research into this colourful little bird is ongoing, little is known about its exact habits and ecology.
Although this is the last mystery quiz bird, keep an eye out for the ultimate mystery bird quiz question tomorrow and a poll on Friday!
Claire
Thought it might be nice if we all could see what this bird the Dusky starfrontlet looked like.
