I thought I would start our anual bird count thread, a few have posted on indvidual threads.
I had quite a good count, the usual happened in that some who come regularity, never appeared. Collard dove, Pheasant, and some never came in the humbers as normal, Starling, Sparrow, Dunnock. Nevertheless here is what I had from 2.15pm-3.15 today. They were given premium seed, peanuts, sunflower hearts, Niger seed, fat balls and fresh water.
3 Blackbird, 1 Blue tit, 9 Chaffinch, 1 Dunnock, 13 Goldfinch, 1 Great tit, 2 Tree sparrow, 2 Robin, 8 Starling, 2 Woodpigeon
42 birds in total.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The RSPB big Garden birdwatch can be done in the garden, over the Balcony or in your local green space but you only count the birds that land during the hour that you birdwatch in the big garden birdwatch. Also The big garden birdwatch is still letting people send in there counts so even though the garden birdwatch weekend is over you can still take part in the big garden birdwatch and send in results until the 19th February
I already know this cause I wanted to know the rules before takeing part the very first time I took part and I’ve taken part a few times. but here’s the link
