MYSTERY TREE QUIZ #9

Once again, it’s time for MrsT’s quizzes to branch out and spread their roots, and this round... you’ve guessed it, its trees! They help regulate our climate and provide food and shelter for a whole host of animals as well as providing us with a variety of resources, we might otherwise take for granted. Let’s face it, what wood (pun intended) the world be without trees? They come in all shapes and sizes, as do the leaves and fruit that they bare and yes, I was one of those kids who loved the school trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. For the next 12 weeks, I will leaf you with a clue or two about trees for you to mulch over.

Enjoy

  • According to Mr Google "Pause café" is an upmarket ladies fashion boutique providing colourful prints.

However, it's also a French video/TV series dating from 1981. It appears to be set in a school/college in Paris.

My French isn't good enough to know what's going on and we may need Noisette to help us.

I've no idea what either of these two have to do with a tree - if anything.

  • There are several trees showing in the background of opening credits ... anything recognisable??

Edit:  other alternative is to watch the hour long episode for any mention of ' arbre' ... methinks not!!

  • Same as Germain I started working with anagrams, but maybe I am just clumsy or really stupid. I came as far as Scape... or Peace... but after that nothing made real sense. After that I thought about "Cafe´". France / Paris was a good idea, TeeJay, but. I came to the idea that terrace cafe´s can be under trees, so I tried to find something about various famous cafe´s in Paris, but there was nothing to do with trees. So I "travelled" on to Vienna, where the european coffee-culture started. Reading about Viennese Cafe´s, there was nothing with trees either, but I've seen pictures taken at the Prater. There were Maple trees, but what is more important for me: There is a walkway called "Hauptallee", where there are supposed to be many horse chestut trees. So this is my first idea.

    Horse Chestnut Tree

Let's see how it goes on. Good luck!

    Bente

  • I need subtitles TJ   LOL !     It did say Service Social on the door at the beginning of the program so maybe it's a Service Tree (Sorbus domestica) and that would tie in with a Cafe   ..........   In other words, I haven't a clue ! ROFL
