MYSTERY TREE QUIZ #3

Once again, it’s time for MrsT’s quizzes to branch out and spread their roots, and this round... you’ve guessed it, its trees! They help regulate our climate and provide food and shelter for a whole host of animals as well as providing us with a variety of resources, we might otherwise take for granted. Let’s face it, what wood (pun intended) the world be without trees? They come in all shapes and sizes, as do the leaves and fruit that they bare and yes, I was one of those kids who loved the school trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. For the next 12 weeks, I will leaf you with a clue or two about trees for you to mulch over.

Enjoy

MYSTERY TREE QUIZ #3
Clue: Soft, strong and very long.

  • I have a Giant Redwood, this is tall, strong and is soft on the outside. I love to get kids to punch it as they just bounce off.

  • Oh WOW  Mrs.T  !   that is one beautifully carved tree trunk and nice to know they didn't harm it in any way with these amazing carving skills.  I lived in Tanzania for 3 years and saw the skills of carving Ebony ... and unfortunately Ivory :(    These clever people are so talented and often only use very basic hand tools for creating these works of art.  I saw one Tanzanian in a market place, sitting on the floor using hands and feet which were holding a wire strung between two dowelling rods and he was creating the most beautiful giraffe carving (sorry but it was on an Ivory tusk ......... but glad to say these Elephants that were killed were part of a Government cull and were "official"   )

BTW, I was wondering if that tree was a Baobab tree as we lived in a housing compound called Baobab Village  lol   ?
