Feather identification

Can anyone please help with this feather identification? It is about 1.5 inches long and was found on the ground with other feathers of a similar size in the garden. Thank you.

  • Some extra information would be helpful David. Are you in the country, town, city and which species to you see in your garden.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • It was down the side of the garden by a fence. There are two big lakes over the back of where we live. About quarter of a mile away, maybe less.

We normally see Sparrows, some Kites, Pigeons and Blue Tits. The odd Jay, Robins and some Blackbirds.
  • Random/tangential thought.

Looks remarkably like a feather from a Warren hen.

(Seen enough of them from the one's round in their posh shelter/nest box. For the benefit of people thinking HPAI, the shelter/run is ingress-proof for birds. The last thing that got in was a polecat - a local wildlife 'tick at the expense of four hens. The wirework required an upgrade.)
