Hello, I live in the Aude region of France. We have been collecting wild almonds to feed to the wild birds in our garden. Not sure if they are sweet or bitter. To be safe , if we roast them will they be ok to feed the birds? Thank you.

I didn't know the answer but I found this article which you may find helpful. It certainly seems that it's OK although I don't know about roasting them first. Quite an undertaking to remove the shells I would think.
What sort of birds do you get in your garden? If they are small ones like tits it might be preferable to crush them to avoid risk of choking especially if they get fed to nestlings during the breeding season.
