Pheasant Shooting

The RSPB is neutral on Game Bird shooting as it has to be by its royal charter.

Listening to a replay of the program the farmer was running a perfectly legal shoot,the birds shot are mainly birds reared specifically for this purpose.

Isn't it time members called for the RSPB to change this charter?? Pheasant shooting is uncontrolled and cruel, not just in the rearing of the birds but also there is no control over the shooting abilities, or lack of, for the sad people who kill them just for fun.

As long as the RSPB has a royal charter and the shooting of Pheasants is legal, the RSPB will remain neutral on this situation.

Well I've known that for a long time. I've also heard that the RSPB have helped control the Black Headed Gull population, but it has to be done to help protect other birds.

And you're OK with that? In that case how do you feel about, let's say, anglers who shoot (legally, under licence) cormorants or saw-bills to protect endangered fish populations?
