I have half a six inch ruler in my camera bag, that I should use to give relative guidance to size.
But, I never seem to get round to using it! :/

If you look at it full screen you can probably tell I haven't vacuumed the stairs. Mind you, you don't need full screen for that!
Mike: if I want scale I tend to use a coin as I tend to have one handy and the size is well known, but I don't like doing it unless I must because it generally ruins the photo.

OOoo-er I don't know why but I was reading up recently about raft spiders, they can be pretty big, do some of them eat fish? Don't believe I would be brave enough to get close enough for a good photo like that one Alan.
