There's a Moth thread and one for Insects, so I thought maybe one for our Arachnid friends. If there's already a live thread out there, my apologies...
I have plenty of these spiders in the garden, mainly in the hedges. Cross Spider I believe. It wasn't too happy with the camera!
I've been hoping to find one of these.
A Nursery Web Spider (Pisaura Mirabilis) which, for me, is one of the best looking UK spiders. I thought I scared it off when I tried to get closer, then realised there were 3 all on different leaves within a couple of feet. This one is a little darker.
Great close up Wendy, smiley face as well:-)
As long as I don't get asked to move out whilst place is fumigated!! Lol
brilliant close up Wendy - just in time for Halloween in a couple of weeks lol
Current villain of the peace in rather fetching balletic pose on garden water butt ... love that 'face', touch of the 'Death's-head HM' Lol
She's a beaut. Glad she is over there!!!!!!
One from the States.
OOoo-er I don't know why but I was reading up recently about raft spiders, they can be pretty big, do some of them eat fish? Don't believe I would be brave enough to get close enough for a good photo like that one Alan.
That's an impressive looking critter. I've no idea what focus bracketing is but it produces an interesting effect
If you look at it full screen you can probably tell I haven't vacuumed the stairs. Mind you, you don't need full screen for that!
Mike: if I want scale I tend to use a coin as I tend to have one handy and the size is well known, but I don't like doing it unless I must because it generally ruins the photo.
