I have a new small wildlife pond, but (I think) because it's so new all that's living it in are what I believe to be mosquito larvae. Until I have more wildlife in there to eat them, are dunks really a safe way to get rid of them? I don't want to do anything that might harm anything else. Thanks.
Hi Sarah welcome to the community from Sheffield.
Before you went down the path of a dunk can you get a photo of the larvae so it can be ID'd properly, even a photo from your phone would be ok if you could get one out of the water.

In reply to Alan.:
I'd be cautious about damaging anything in a new pond that's essentially the bottom of the foodchain. My guess is that it would slow the establishment of larger, more welcome species

In reply to Whistling Joe:
Yeah that's a worry too. I am hoping to attract lots of critters that will eat them. It's just this time when it's all establishing - my family really don't want be eaten alive.
In reply to Sarah :
After having a google for images Sarah it looks like you are right about them being Mosquito Larvae, have a read here on ways to get rid of them if you want too and there is nothing in the pond that will do the job for you www.hunker.com/.../how-to-kill-mosquito-larvae-naturally
Thank you Alan :)
