For many, the garden in winter is a no go area, shut away behind closed doors until the sun comes out again! However, one only has to read your Homes for Wildlife Forum posts to see the many things that can still be done if only there was enough daylight to do it!

At this time of year, with the short days, there is no time during the week to get anything done in the garden. It all hinges on trying to squeeze what one can into a few short weekend hours, between social activities and inclement weather. With the number of little projects I have on the go in my own garden I’ve realised how much a struggle this is to get them done. My standing wood project I described in my last blog being a classic case. Aside from my garden, last week was somewhat hectic for meetings relating to urban wildlife.

Last Thursday was somewhat heavy with two meetings in London. One of these was to update our partners on progress with the London House Sparrow Parks Project. I mentioned this SITA, Northern Trust and ICB funded project in an earlier blog. These blogs are good opportunities to let you all know the breadth of some of our urban work beyond Homes for Wildlife. The meeting was held in the ‘Hub’ which is in the middle of Regent’s Park. As its name suggests, the building is hub shaped and has been built on top of and beneath a huge mound. On the top is a café and beneath a small conference venue as well as changing rooms – there’s even hair drier’s! At the meeting we was able to provide partners with copies of a promotional film about the project.
